The Woolly Tellers
The woolly Tellers Mick Whysall and David Brookes are performance story tellers
The majority of the content of any performance are self written. There may be on occasions the use of traditional stories within the performance. These are few and are added to increase or alter the breadth and balance of the performance when required.
The strength of storytelling is in the spoken word, and therefore props and stage sets are minimal. Mick and Dave on most occasions dress in black to maintain a neutral ambience so the emphasis is on the spoken word and story content.
Atmosphere adds greatly to any performance. Mood lighting by way of wall washes may be used (by the use of low voltage LED which are essentially cold running) Electric candles (where required) can be used where appropriate
Performances will run by agreement with the venue or clients. The Woolly Tellers will tailor the presentation to facilitate commercial opportunities and will be attentive to the comfort of the audience.
We operate a consistent professional attitude in dress, behaviour and content and welcome discussion or request in respect to timing and or content of the performance.
We will prior to any engagement be at the venue prior to the performance to liaise and discuss any detail and or logistical matters that may require our input or attention.
We carry full liability insurance
_______
The venue
Storytelling is an intimate performance which does not usually require amplification or sound equipment. It is essential therefore that the location of the event is suitable.
The intrusion of music, passing traffic and other adjacent high levels of noise detracts from the success of the performance
The audience should be comfortable and relaxed. Be able to enjoy the performance of the spoken word, with seating provided and correctly arranged. The room temperature set to the appropriate level for comfort for a seated audience.
Health and safety and housekeeping matters will when required be presented to the audience at the beginning of the performance
Advertising and promotion is undertaken by The Woolly Tellers but relies on support from the venue when possible.
Posters and fliers strategically placed the taking of bookings and the issue of tickets all contribute to a successful event.
Enquiries about the performance will generate an audience. It is essential staff are informed about the scope and content of the event, tickets sales and pricing
The woolly Tellers will commence and conclude at the agreed times and will remove any equipment as quickly as possible after the finish of the performance.
We are happy to assist with arranging layout, tidying and clearing the performance where required.
